Pyrokinesis
Psions of Pyrokinesis, or "Pyromancers", can manipulate atoms to speed up their thermal energy in order to ignite materials. More disciplined Pyromancers can also master the ability to the point of becoming immune to heat, and even using it as protective armor.

1D Lighter: With this ability, the Psion can create a spark of fire that can be used as a dim light or to ignite flammable materials.

2D Heat Resistance: This Pyrokinesis ability allows the user to resist extreme heats such as from deserts or hot surfaces. The Psion is more capable of tolerating extreme temperatures, but is not immune to them.

3D Shape Fire: A Psion of this discipline level can manipulate the shape of existing fire. The Psion must focus on the flame, but can make the flame stretch, rise, or shrink with enough concentration.

4D Thermographic Vision: With this ability, the Psion can see heat like most people see color. Even in complete darkness, the Pyromancer can see the area without difficulty.

5D Create Fire: With this power, the Psion can create reasonably sized flames equal to a bonfire. So long as the target area is within the user's line of site, the Psion can create a tendril of flame that quickly grows into a sizable fire. This flame is easy to move away from, and is not a formidable weapon (yet) in combat.

6D Scorching Bolt: By concentrating, the Psion is able to compile a small ball of fire, which they can hurl at targets in order to destroy them. This bolt of fire is extremely spreadable, igniting or sizzling on surfaces that it is thrown on for rounds after it is thrown.

7D Fire Immunity: At this level, a Psion is able to ignore extreme heats as if they are normal temperatures. A Psion can walk through fire, swim in boiling water, or touch extremely hot surfaces. The Psion can also continue to breath within flames as if it is oxygen (but not hot water or melting materials). This does not keep the Psion immune from objects that are burning, like falling timber from a log cabin that collapses on top of the user. Laser weapons and extreme heats from Smart Weapons no longer have any effect.

8D Flaming Visage: The Psion can create a field of fire on their flesh that helps deter physical attacks. Anyone who physically attacks the user with unarmed or melee attacks takes immense fire damage from their actions, though the damage still effects the Psion normally. Plasma weapons and other ranged attacks do regular damage without consequence.

9D Fireball: Psions powerful enough to create fireballs can decimate entire areas with sheer burning force. A Psion must concentrate before launching the basketball sized sphere at an area within line of site. Upon impact, the Fireball explodes, creating massive amounts of damage to anyone within its zone.

10D Fire Constructs: This terrifying ability allows the Psion to shape a flaming creature out of nothing and implant basic sentience into the creature that mirrors the Psion's own conscience. These creatures can strike at targets to cause burning damage, and harm anyone who tries to physically attack them through unarmed or melee attacks. These constructs are immune to heat damage, including lasers, but can be disrupted by plasma weaponry or conventional means of extinguishing fires (such as lack of oxygen, water, or extreme colds).

Duration: Sustained

Range: Touch

Rule: This ability effectively turn's the Psion's Fingertip into a lit cigarette lighter so long as they sustain the power.

Characters with this ability gain the Special Ability, Attack Resistance [2] against extreme heats such as flame and lasers (but not plasma). The character gains +1D to their damage resistance total against these extreme heats. There is no need to activate this ability, as it is always present.

Difficulty: Moderate + or - the Difference in scale between the Psion and the Fire

Duration: Sustained

Range: Line of Sight

Rule: The Psion can Spread the Fire, Extinguish the Fire, or Make it dance to his will so long as this power is sustained. The Fire's Movement and Spread rate will be determined by the Game Master depending upon the availability of flammable materials and other environmental factors, but typically moves at half the base movement of the psion (typically 5). If the Psion's goal to make the flames dance to either entertain or intimidate others, he may use his Pyrokinesis Dice Pool to complement such skill rolls.

This ability is not strong enough yet to use as a weapon.

Duration: 1 action, Sustained per round

Range: Self

Rule: So long as this power is successfully sustained the Psion has the benefits of the Special Ability Infra-vision.

Difficulty: Moderate

The Psion focuses on a point where they would like to create fire within their line of site. Any vision or range penalties may be applied to the following roll if necessary. The Psion then spends an action is the creation of the fire, which is done through a successful Pyrokinesis roll. Fire will not start on living creatures or robotics with this level due to their complexity. This power does not have to be sustained once created, though the psion has the option if the fire is in environments that are noncondusive to fire (freezing area, wetlands). The fire has many benefits including...

*Negating vision penalties for darkness
*Warming creatures in freezing environments
*Heating food/drink
*Warming machinery
*Destroying unneeded items
*Creating obstacles

While the fire can not be used as a direct weapon, anyone who walks within a fire's square will suffer 3D damage, and if wearing extremely flammable equipment/clothes, ignite for the next five rounds.

6D, Scorching Bolt: The psion creates a small flame in their hand that they may use as a weapon, flinging at foes.


Difficulty: DC 15 (Moderate)


The Psion creates a flame in their hand, which they can hurl at any target within his line of sight. For a Psion to use this power, they must declare the use of at least 2 actions. The first action is the creation of the ball of flame, which is done through a successful Pyrokinesis roll. The second action is to throw the bolt of fire at the intended target. To perform this, the Psion makes a thrown weapons roll with a 2D bonus to launch the bolt of flame at their target.

Characters hit by the sphere suffer the Psion's Pyrokinesis Skill Dice in Damage. Anyone who successfully takes damage from the initial hit is considered to be on fire and must either attempt to put themselves out (Acrobatics or Agility roll DC 15, or hurry into an airless environment) in order to stop the flame from continuing. Fire burns at 3D damage for 3 additional rounds until it dies out by itself (like the flamethrower weapon).

Note: Flame can not be used in airless environments such as deep space or water

7D, Fire Immunity:

The character no longer suffers any damage from extreme heats such as fire or lasers. This ability is considered to always be active. Any equipment that the character may be wearing however, still must make checks within flame or extreme heat or be destroyed. In addition, the psion does not suffer any respiratory issues with flame and the smoke it creates. This is different than atmospheric tolerance, as it only applies to fire and smoke created by flame (toxic smoke, poisonous gases still apply).

8D, Flaming Visage:


Duration: 1 action to activate, Sustained each round with an additional action

Difficulty: DC 24 (Difficult)

The character ignites themselves in flame, protecting them from certain types of attacks. Anyone attempting to touch or physically attack the psion may do so, but suffers half of the psion's Pyrokinesis skill dice value in damage immediately if they successfully make contact. If this Flaming Visage damage successfully damages the attacker, they are aflame and must make additional damage resistance rolls vs 3D for 3 additional rounds.

Anyone using thrown weapons that are not made of steel may attempt to harm the psion, but must first make a damage resistance check for their weapon in order to see if it is not incinerated first. Most throwing weapons that are not steel (wood, stone) have a damage resistance of 2D and 5 body points, which they roll vs the psion's Pyrokinesis skill value. Ranged weapons with plasma attacks (but not lasers) are immune to this ability, as plasma dissipates molecules and subatomic molecules instead.

Difficulty: 27 (Heroic)

The Psion creates in his hand a sphere of pure flame which they can hurl at any target within their line of sight. For a Psion to use this power, they must declare the use of at least 2 actions. The first action is the creation of the fireball, which is done through a successful Pyrokinesis roll. The second action is to throw the flaming sphere at the intended target. To perform this, the Psion makes a thrown weapons roll with a 2D bonus to launch the ball of fire at their target. Treat this fireball like a grenade in regards to Scatter.

The Blast is is centered on where the fireball lands after scatter. Everyone within 1 Meter of the Blast takes the Psion's Pyrokinesis Skill Dice in Damage. For every meter away from the center of the Blast takes 1D less Damage until the Blast eventually does no Damage. Determine the total area effected by the Fireball Explosion, and then divide the area into three different blast Radius as evenly as possible.

Escaping One Blast Radius is a Difficulty 15
Escaping Two Blast Radius is Difficulty 19
Escaping Three Blast Radius is Difficulty 23

Characters hit by the fireball suffer the Psion's Pyrokinesis Skill Dice in Damage. Anyone who takes damage is considered to be on fire, and must make damage resistance checks (or attempt to put themselves out) of 3D for 3 additional rounds.

10D, Fire Constructs:

Duration: 1 action to create, lasts an amount of rounds equal to the psion's Pyrokinesis skill value

Cost: 5 Character Points per construct

Difficulty: DC 31 (Heroic)

This nightmarish ability allows the psion to create individual creatures of flame, which can think and act on their own. These creatures are made entirely of flame, and use the psion's conscience as a reflection of their own intelligence.

To create, the psion must first spend 5 character points (used regardless if successful). The psion then rolls their Pyrokinesis skill, DC 31. If successful a manifestation of the psion's choosing is created. These creatures, much like the nature of flame, are very temporary, only lasting for less than a minute. Fire Constructs have the following stats.

ATTRIBUTES
All physical attributes are equal to half of the psion's Pyrokinesis skill die total (AGILITY & STRENGTH). All mental attributes are equal to a quarter of the psion's Pyrokinesis skill die total (KNOWLEDGE, MECHANICAL, PERCEPTION, TECHNICAL).

SKILLS
Fire constructs have any skill that the Psion has. All skills are equal to half of the psion's Pyrokinesis skill dice total +1. In addition, a Fire Construct gets the flying/0-G skill, which is equal to half of the psion's Pyrokinesis skill dice total +1.

MOVEMENT
x2 the base movement of the Psion. This ability is considered to be flight, not walking and uses flying/0-G for additional movement and flight stunts.

BODY POINTS
These creatures have an equal amount of body points as the psion, though they do not suffer damage penalties for being stunned, wounded, or S. Wounded. The creature is considered disrupted/destroyed once they reach Incapacitated or beyond, disappearing all together.

SPECIAL ABILITIES
Fire Constructs have the following Pryokinesis abilities, all using (if necessary) the psion's FULL Pyrokinesis dice pool (so a minimum of 10D).

*Fire Immunity
*Flaming Visage
*Scorching Bolt
