Vitakinesis

Vitakinesis is the ability to manipulate health as to heal, cure disease, and repair anatomies of living creatures, plants, or animals. The User can cure withering, wounds, broken bones, low vitality, and even diseases. The Psion can not raise the dead, however some can revive people if they have only very recently expired. At early levels, Psions can cure minor diseases or heal small wounds by regenerating tissue. As they advance, larger wounds like missing limbs and broken bones can be put back together if the injury is fresh, or they can be regenerated by advanced healing techniques.

Powers

1D Health Diagnosis: The Psion can touch a target to identify any injury, disease, age, etc. automatically. This ability takes mere seconds (5 seconds or 1 round). The Psion can not determine how the target received the ailment, but can locate where it the body the injury is affecting.

2D: Health Transfer: With this ability, the Psion can heal physical wounds or poisons (plasma, stabbings, broken bones, snake bites) by absorbing them into themselves. The Psion must be touching the living subject, and can absorb the physical wounds (but not diseases, age, etc.) within five seconds (1 round). Once the Psion has absorbed the wounds, they suffer all of the effects that the healed recipient would and must be looked after by trained physicians to mend the new damage. The Psion can not disperse any damage from himself or others, and are only able to inflict it upon themselves. This ability will not work if the subject is dead, however, it will help if they are unconscious and dying. It also does not fix severed limbs, but does heal the wound where the limb once was attached.

3D Cure: With this early ability, the Psion can remove various biological conditions from themselves or others, returning to the original, unmodified state. This basic power alleviates any average illnesses by removing the virus obtained. These sicknesses include anything can be overcome naturally at a slower state, including the flu, chickenpox, diarrhea, indigestion, or dizzy spells. It can not cure more serious ailments such as blood diseases, cancer, space rot, age or the effects of psionic powers. The Psion must concentrate for at least one minute (6 rounds) on the subject in question. The recipient must be a living being (can not fix a computer virus).

4D Innocuous Healing: The Psion is now so in touch with how to repair biological tissue, that they can do so without absorbing it into themselves. The Healing Psion must still touch the recipient, but does not suffer any affects of the wounds, poisons, or diseases he/she has fixed. This does not alter the time, process or concentration needed to use any psionic healing powers.

5D Severe Treatment: The Psion has become so comprehensive of how to heal living creatures, that he/she may alleviate serious diseases or severed limbs. Such diseases include illnesses like Cholera, Cancer, Space Rot, Tuberculosis, A.I.D.S. Severe Treatment may also regenerate missing limbs such as eyes, hands, and legs (but not heads unless the creature somehow is still alive). The Psion must have physical contact with the individual and must concentrate for one hour. If the Psion concentrates enough, he/she can completely wash away the illness or regrow any parts. This Severe Treatment does not repair Psionic effects, Age, Mental Illnesses or any non-biological disorders.

6D Inflict Injury: This Psionic ability works in the reverse of traditional healing. Instead of curing a target’s wounds, they can inflict damage to the subject instead. This damage must be physical wounds (can not be diseases or poisons). The Psion must be touching the subject and needs to concentrate on the subject for at least five seconds (1 round). These wounds all depend on how much focus the Psion has while inflicting them, but are translated as a deterioration of internal tissue. If a recipient dies from the Inflicted Injuries, cause of death is not apparent from any visual inspection, however, a full diagnosis reveals that all blood vessels, muscles, organs and bones ruptured from some unnatural cause.

7D Distant Healing: At this point, the Psion has honed their psychic concentration so sharply, that they may transmit brain waives from a distance in order to heal a target. The Psion may choose one target that is in their line of site (at least 50% of their body must be in site) and use any Vitakinesis abilities she/he might have on the subject. All particulars, necessary time, and requirements are still essential.

8D Fatal Resuscitation- The Psion may attempt to bring back a lifeless subject so long as they are only freshly departed. By focusing on the freshly deceased subject, the Psion may attempt to revive them, though doing so is very challenging. A Psion must concentrate very intensely, and each few seconds after the subject has died (per round), only adds to the difficulty of resuscitating the target. The Psion can only bring back subjects that they are able to heal with their current Vitakinesis capabilities and doing so takes at least five seconds (1 round).

9D Psionic Mending: The Psion is now able to heal any psionic affects that involve biological matter. The Psion can heal psionic wounds, poisons or diseases, but not psionic mental illnesses (see Telepathics or Empathics for Mental Healing). The psion can also heal flesh distortions, cellular disturbances or any other psionic abilities that effect only the physical body of the target. The Psion must concentrate on the recipient for 1 hour in order for the ability to work.

10D Immunity to Age- The Psion is so talented at manipulating living tissue, that they can stop the expiration of cells all together. The Psion can choose either himself or a single target, and with great focus (1 hour’s worth), stop cellular cessation. The recipient must be willing for the ability to work (easy to repel otherwise), or unconscious, for the Psion to stop the aging process. The Psion must then succeed in a “very difficult” check for the effect to work. If the Psion fails, he/she can not attempt again on the target for at least one year. If they succeed, the target no longer grows old, but can die from other causes such as wounds, disease, etc.

Difficulty: 11

Modifiers:

+5 to difficulty if the target is of a different species then the Psion. ( A human targeting a Novacon)

+10 to the if the target is of a radically different species then the Psion. (A human targeting an Elashani)

+20 or more if the target is a completely unknown species to the Psion. (A living Sentient Planet, Sentient Psionicly active AI's, etc...)

Effect:
For every round that this power is sustained upon a Target, the Psion may add their Vitakinesis Skill Dice to their Medicine Dice Pool for attempts to determine what injures, poisons, toxins, and diseases are effecting the target.

NOTE: The Chart above is the Chart used for Medicine Skill Checks unmodified by Vitakinesis, and that Vitakinesis's ablity Health Diagnosis can allow a Psion to learn in rounds what may take Minutes, Hours, or Days for Modern Medicine to discover on it's own. Also know that to get full us of this ability it is important for Characters to have some understanding of the Medicine Skill.

With this ability, the Psion can help another heal physical wounds or recover from poisons (plasma, stabbings, broken bones, snake bites) by sharing some of their own vitality with the target. The Psion must be touching the living subject to use this ability.

Range: Touch

Duration: Sustainable

Difficulty : 11

Modifiers:

+5 to difficulty if the target is of a different species then the Psion. ( A human targeting a Novacon)

+10 to the if the target is of a radically different species then the Psion. (A human targeting an Elashani)

+20 or more if the target is a completely unknown species to the Psion. (A living Sentient Planet, Sentient Psionicly active AI's, etc...)

+5 if a target is effected by a Poison

+5 if the target is effected by a Disease

Effect:

The Psion may transfer his own health to the target in measurements of 1D. For every 1D of Health Transferred to a Target, the Psion takes that many Dice Damage to himself. Both Healing and Damage Dice should include a Wild Die.

The Psion may roll Half of his Vitakinesis Dice Pool (Round Down) with a Wild Die, and restore that many Body points to the Target. Body Points are restored at the rate of 1 Point per second as the body begins healing at an incredible rate. To determine how many Combat Rounds this Power Must be Sustained, Divide the Number of Body Points to be restored by 5, and Round Down.

EXAMPLE: A Psion with a Vitakinesis skill of 7D has succeeded at his Innocuous Healing check. The Psion will now Roll half of his Vitakinesis Skill Dice, which comes out to be 3D. After rolling the 3D, the Psion has determined that he can restore 14 Body Points to the Target, over the Course of Two Rounds.

If the Psion had a Vitakinesis of 8D he would have rolled 4D to restore Body Points, and if the Psion had Rolled high enough to restore 15 Body Points, he would have needed to sustain the Power for a Full Three Rounds.


NOTE: IF THE PSION DROPS THE POWER BEFORE HEALING IS COMPLETE, NO HEALING IS ACCOMPLISHED IN THE ROUND THE POWER IS DROPPED.

Range: Touch

Duration: Sustainable

Difficulty : 11

Modifiers:

+5 to difficulty if the target is of a different species then the Psion. ( A human targeting a Novacon)

+10 to the if the target is of a radically different species then the Psion. (A human targeting an Elashani)

+20 or more if the target is a completely unknown species to the Psion. (A living Sentient Planet, Sentient Psionicly active AI's, etc...)

-5 if a target is effected by a Poison

-5 if the target is effected by a Disease


Effect:

The Psion may roll Half of his Vitakinesis Dice Pool (Round Down) with a Wild Die, and subtract that many Body points from the Target. Body Points are reduced at the rate of 1 Point per second as the body begins failing at an incredible rate. To determine how many Combat Rounds this Power Must be Sustained, Divide the Number of Body Points to be reduced by 5, and Round Down.

EXAMPLE: A Psion with a Vitakinesis skill of 7D has succeeded at his Inflict Injury check. The Psion will now Roll half of his Vitakinesis Skill Dice, which comes out to be 3D. After rolling the 3D, the Psion has determined that he can remove 14 Body Points from the Target, over the Course of Two Rounds.

If the Psion had a Vitakinesis of 8D he would have rolled 4D to damage Body Points, and if the Psion had Rolled high enough to remove 15 Body Points, he would have needed to sustain the Power for a Full Three Rounds.

To determine how many Combat Rounds this Power Must be Sustained, Divide the Number of Body Points to be restored by 5, and Round Down. If the Number of Body Points restored fail to bring the Character's Body Point Total to 1 or more then the power fails and the target remains dead. If Concentration is broken before the Target's Body Point Total is restored to 1 or More, the power fails and the target remains Dead. Regardless if the Power is successful or not, the Fate Point is still used.

Cost: 1 Fate Point paid by the Psion, and a total of 100 Character Points that can be drawn from both the Psion and the Target.
NOTE: THE COSTS ARE PAID REGARDLESS IF THE POWER IS SUCCESSFUL OR NOT

Duration: Sustainable and Permanent

Difficulty : Heroic

Modifiers:

+5 to difficulty if the target is of a different species then the Psion. ( A human targeting a Novacon)

+10 to the if the target is of a radically different species then the Psion. (A human targeting an Elashani)

+20 or more if the target is a completely unknown species to the Psion. (A living Sentient Planet, Sentient Psionicly active AI's, etc...)

+5 if a target is effected by a Known Poison

+5 if the target is effected by a Known Disease
