Absorb/Dissipate Energy

Channel Energy Difficulty List
Very Easy for sunburn and other very minor energy sources
Easy for intense sun
Moderate for solar wind and other modest energy sources
Difficult for radiation storms and other intense energy sources.

Characters
may use this power to absorb energy attacks — the difficulty is Moderate plus the attack's damage roll.

The power may be kept "up " as long as the source of energy
is constant — it may not be kept "up " for Energy Attacks

Effect: This power allows the Psion to absorb or dissipate energy, including light, heat, radiation and Energy Attacks. A successful Channel Energy roll means that the energy is dissipated. If the user fails the roll, she takes full damage from the energy. This power may be used to ward off sunburn, heat-stroke and radiation exposure, as well as withstand intense heat. This power may also be used to absorb Energy Attacks

Example: A Goon is shooting a Psion.
Rather than dodge behind cover, she decides to
use absorb/dissipate energy to absorb the shot.
The difficulty is Moderate plus the damage of the
blaster bolt. For the Moderate difficulty, the
gamemaster picks a difficulty number of 14.

Psion rolls Channel Energy and gets a 21.
If the blaster's damage roll is less than seven,
then Psion absorbs the blaster bolt and takes no
damage. If the blaster's damage roll is seven or
higher, she takes full damage from the blaster
shot.

Recharge Batteries
The character has the ability to recharge any type of energy storage that deals with electronics.

Energy Bolt

Difficulty: Moderate

The Psion creates in his hand a radiant sphere of pure Energy which he can hurl at any target within his line of sight. For a Psion to use this power, he must declare the use of at least 2 actions. The first action is the creation of the energy bolt, which is done through a successful Channel Energy roll. The second action is to throw the energy sphere at the intended target. To perform this, the Psion makes a thrown weapons roll with a 2D bonus to launch the bolt of energy at his target.

Characters hit by the sphere suffer the Psion's Channel Energy Skill Dice in Damage.

Bolts of Energy have Ranges of

SHORT: 5

MEDIUM (+5): 10

LONG (+10): 20

Energy Explosion

Difficulty: Moderate

The Psion is now capable of creating an incredible Explosion of Psionic Energy in every direction. The Psion creates radiant sphere of pure Energy which surrounds him
and then explodes outward in every direction. If the Psion succeeds at the Moderate Difficult the Blast does the Psion's Channel Energy Skill Dice Damage in all Directions.
The Damage is reduced by 1D for every Meter away that the blast Reaches away from the Psion.

For anyone attempting to escape the Energy Explosion's Blast Radius, refer to the Grenade Blast Rules. Determine the total area effected by the Energy Explosion, and then divide the area into three different blast Radius as evenly as possible.

Escaping One Blast Radius is a Difficulty 15
Escaping Two Blast Radius is Difficulty 19
Escaping Three Blast Radius is Difficulty 23



For Example:

A Psion uses his Channel Energy Skill of 6D to create an Energy Explosion and succeeds at the Moderate Difficulty. The Blast does 6D Damage to every Adjacent Meter to the Psion. The Blast does 5D Damage to everything 2 Meters Away from the Psion, and 4D Damage to everything 3 Meters away from the Psion.

The Blast is is centered on where the Exploding Energy Bolt lands after scatter. Everyone within 1 Meter of the Blast takes the Psion's Channel Energy Skill Dice in Damage. For every meter away from the center of the Blast takes 1D less Damage until the Blast eventually does no Damage. Determine the total area effected by the Energy Explosion, and then divide the area into three different blast Radius as evenly as possible.

Escaping One Blast Radius is a Difficulty 15
Escaping Two Blast Radius is Difficulty 19
Escaping Three Blast Radius is Difficulty 23

Characters hit by the sphere suffer the Psion's Channel Energy Skill Dice in Damage.

8D Charged Brawling:
With this abililty, the psion is able to charge their fists and feet before making a brawl attack. Each hit adds to brawling damage, but quickly fades.

Rules: The character must first make a moderate (DC: 11-15) Channel Energy check with an action to charge their fists/feet. They then make a second Channel Energy roll and divide the total by 2. That divided total is additional damage that is added to the psion’s next brawl attack (must be used that round, or sustained the next round with another action). For every attack after the initial strike (must have hit, but not necessarily dealt damage), the psion divides the additional energy damage by two until that number reaches below 1 (0.50). Once the Charged Brawling reaches this point, it must be reactivated.

9D Power Outage :
A psion with this level of Channel Energy can use themselves as a conduit to overload any electrically charged device, and all electric devices linked to it (overload a ship’s microwave to shutdown all other electronic ship functions such as cameras, navigation systems, etc.).

The psion must dedicate an entire round focusing on a specific electronic device. They must then succeed in a moderate channel energy difficulty roll (DC 11-15) and add or subtract a GM designated scale for the target object, as well as any objects it is linked to (IE: Single computer not plugged into anything else -6 to difficulty, Gunnery-computer plugged into a shuttle craft and all of its devices +20 to difficulty). This makes shutting down small objects a breeze, but knocking out an entire city block’s worth of power extremely tough. The Power Outage lasts for a number of rounds equal to the the psion’s Channel Energy skill rating. GM’s should add additional aftermath for power outages to things like ships on autopilot, or traffic lights on busy highways.

10D Energy Eruption :
Energy Eruption is an improved variance of Energy Explosion. This level of mastery allows the psion to use themselves as a medium and gather immense amounts of destructive energy. That energy is then detonated into a mammoth explosion that does not harm the user, but annihilates anything around him/her.

To use Energy Eruption, the psion must spend an action centering all surrounding forces inside themselves. This requires a Very Difficult Channel Energy check and an expenditure of ten character points. They then spend a second action discharging the blast. The detonation is centered around the psion and has a radius range of the psion’s Metaphysics attribute x their Channel Energy skill. As part of their discharge action, the psion then rolls their channel energy skill once more. Everything within the radius’s range must soak (inescapable) this damage and suffer anything not absorbed by armor or protective coverings such as vehicles, etc.

This power is extremely dangerous and should only be used as a last resort. Most psions who’ve mastered this ability never use it on the field because of how severe it’s effects can be.
