Canthions
Unaligned Races CanthionBanner
Racial Name: Canthions

Alias: Red-Psions

Nicknames: Three-Eyes, Slavers, Lightning Devils

Home Galaxy: Hexisan

Home Planet: Tevicar

Alternative Planet Names: The Black Sphere, The Storm Planet

Colonized Planets: None

Major Organizations: Canthion Realms, Psi-Tempests

Physical Description: Canthions are bipedal creatures with a torso, head, two arm and two leg appendages. They have five major sense organs, in which four are located on the head. They have three eyes (one on the forehead), two ears, one nose, one mouth (all located on the head) and a simple set of nervous tissue throughout the skin. They are descendents of an early carnivorous predator called the Caisha. Canthion body types vary substantially. Although body size is largely determined by genes, it is also significantly influenced by environmental factors such as what side of the planet they live on. The average height of an adult Canthion is about 1.5 to 1.8 m (5 to 6 feet) tall, although this varies significantly from place to place and depending on class. The average mass of an adult Canthion is 54–64 kg (120–140 lbs) for females and 76–83 kg (168–183 lbs) for males. Weight can also vary greatly (e.g. obesity).

Canthions have no hair except for on their scalp and bottoms of their feet. The hair is made of a thin rubber-like substance that makes them electrically resistant to their hostile planet. The hue of Canthion skin ranges from a dark pink to a heavy red. Canthions hair is always black, white or red. The hair does not fade with age like many races, but their skin begins to wrinkle as time goes by. Canthions have proportionately long palates and tiny, sharp teeth which reflect their predator nature.

Canthions are carnivores. They live for an average of 100 years, reaching sexual maturity at 12 to 15 years of age. Females continue to develop physically until age 18 while males develop until age 21. They reach their physical climax from age 18 to 35 before beginning to slowly fade in strength and stamina. A Canthions is considered elderly (and incapable of certain physical actives) when they reach their 60’s. They can live in humid or cold environments provided they have appropriate shelter. They have a moderate birth rate and often deliver twins in one laboring.

Canthions are also the only other race that is naturally psions. Unlike Altarians however, Canthions are empathics, and can only detect emotions (not thoughts) of other beings. This makes them extremely efficient hunters, negotiators and warriors, sensing the fear, confidence or anger of their opponents at all times.

Culture: Canthions are moderately social beings and tend to live in secluded complex social groups. More than any other creature, Canthions are adept at utilizing systems of communication for self-gain, exchanging their dominant ideas to organize those under them. Canthions groups are almost often based off of a noble line that is considered the most powerful of the race. Social interactions between Canthions and other races are limited, as the race fears other species will rob the Kings and Nobles of their authority. All Canthion societies organize, recognize and classify types of social relationships based on nobility, and arranged marriages and families are a way of life for these dominating creatures.

History:
History: The Canthions (Can-tee-on-z) make their home in the planet Tevicar (Tev-eh-car). The dense black planet is located on the far reaches of Hexisan’s longest galaxy arm. This alien monarchy refused to join or be assisted by the Hexisan Union and warns that any intruders caught on their planet will be considered an enemy of war. Luckily, their photon gas enriched planet has little value to the Hexisan Union, who allows the stubborn race to live in the confines of their own aristocracy.
Unaligned Races HexPlanet9
The constant lightning storms that crash upon Tevicar’s surface has made the planet a hostile realm with an even more hostile history. At first, these storms were considered a curse by their gods, but as time when on and the culture grew, the Canthions soon learned to harness the power, using it for their technologies. These technologies have helped the Canthions construct a space elevator that leads all the way to their moon, Camdin II. The moon is a near replica of the planet, with a thick black photon cloud that surrounds its feeble atmosphere. The Canthions use this moon as a meeting location with outside visitors who are not allowed on Tevicar.
Unaligned Races Alien3
Almost all Canthions are part of the Canthion Realm monarchy, ran by the Grand Emperor. The Emperor can be from only one of three noble families. These three families are considered the most exalted of the noble lines. The Canthions take part in this rulership because of their strong belief in tradition, fiefdom and slavery. They believe that the noble bloodlines are not only the highest governmental power, but also the rightful heirs of their planet. This makes the Emperor the unquestionable controller of the entire planet.
Unaligned Races King1
Besides that, not much is known about this mysterious race. There are speculations that have been deducted, but even these are not completely factual. It’s believed that they are all empathics, a type of psionics that allows the user to detect emotions. They also have a mysterious order or noble knights they call the Psi-Tempests. This order’s motives are mostly unknown, but they are the ONLY Canthions allowed to leave the planet by the Grand Emperor. They are highly trained and psionicly potent. Some say that the order is attempting to overthrow the Hexisan Union while others rumor that they are working with the Rasari government. None of these presumptions can be backed by evidence.

The Psi-Tempests
Unaligned Races Stormorder
The Psi-Tempests are a secret order of Canthions who devote themselves to the orders of the Grand Emperor. The Psi-Tempests are the only Canthions allowed to leave their home planet, but their motives and missions are unknown. What is known is that the Psi-Tempests are highly martially, technically and psionicly trained. Though they are committing many Hexisan Union crimes when they do, Psi-Tempests are given sanction to do whatever is needed to accomplish their mission by their Grand Emperor.

It is said that the Psi-Tempests follow a code of noble conduct, but because their race is so merciless and destructive, it is uncertain as to what this code consists of. What is certain is that the Hexisan Union has continuously debated destroying Psi-Tempest ships as they leave their home planet for fear that the Order is up to no good. However, Altarian and Novacon ideals have allowed the Psi-Tempests to temporarily conduct their business, though their activity is heavily monitored.

Psi-Tempests are the only non-hereditary Canthions who may wear the royal color of black. Their armors and weaponry are colored the righteous tone in order to represent their authority. Psi-Tempests are also given permission to carry arms within their planet, a right that is only usually given to nobility. Most aristocrats who sponsor the Grand Emperor fund the Psi-Tempests, and it’s assumed that their wants often influence the Psi-Tempests orders.

Rumors continue to come in from Hexisan citizens and Rasari natives that the Psi-Tempests have visited Neenad multiple times and are in cahoots with the Rasari government. No solid evidence has been presented to back these facts, but many trusted Rasari have secretly given testimony to back these accusations. Since the Canthions are so minute in the grand scheme of things, and because their planet could be obliterated by the Hexisan Union easily, the Psi-Tempests actions have been tolerated, but how long, no one knows.

Kaynar
Unaligned Races Insect
Racial Name: Kaynar (Kay-Nar)

Alias: Arthrostacians, Crustachnids

Nicknames: Bugs, Demolishers

Home Galaxy: Hexisan

Home Planet: Taraks (dying)

Alternative Planet Names: Bug Planet

Colonized Planets: None

Major Organizations: None

Physical Description: Kaynar are a type of living creatures within the arthropods family that have a chitinous exoskeleton, three-part body (head, thorax, and abdomen), two pairs of jointed legs, compound eyes, and one pair of antennae. They may be found in nearly all environments on Taraks, although only a small number can be found in the oceans.

Kaynar have no hair. The hue of their shells range from a black to a dark gray. Kaynar do not fade with age like many races until the last few months of their lifespan. They have proportionately long legs for hunting, sharp pincher teeth with acidic capabilities for melting down their prey and massive tremor sensing antenna across their bulky heads.

Kaynar are carnivores. They must consume massive amounts of food (at least their body weight each day) in order to stay alive. In recent years, due to food scarcity, Kaynar have become cannibalistic, eating other competitive nests’ Kaynar. They live for an average of 10 years, reaching sexual maturity at 6 months. Since they are hermaphrodites, Kaynar do not have a difference in male and female sexual maturity time lines, though they can not mate with themselves. Kaynar have a special method of birthing. Kaynar wait for their eggs to be ready for hatching within their own abdomen before implanting these hundreds of baby kanyar into a victim. Upon contact with warm bio-tissue, the eggs hatch, soon devouring their victim. Keener can live in extremely hot or extremely cold environments due to their simple body structure, but tend to dig into planetary soil to make their homes. Kanyar can live within space’s freezing, oxygenless atmosphere due to their biology, making it possible for them to survive on meteors, atmospherless moons and atop of spacecraft.
Unaligned Races BugRace

Taraks (Tear-icks) is a fading planet, worsening every year due to its inhabitants. It was once the rocky home of thousands of life forms, but because of imbalanced reproduction, the Kaynar (Kay-Nar) soon took over. The Kaynar, a massive, soil based insect, destroyed all other animals within its ecosystem and soon left itself uncontested. The Kavar are not intellectual creatures, but due border the definition of sentient. They can communicate with one another through chemical transference and are said to have a vocabulary comparable to many primitive tribes. They also seem to have a system of procedures, a learned behavior they use to in order to keep the race in line. However, because Taraks are hermaphrodites and can both spread their seed and become pregnant, they have overpopulated their planet to the point of tearing it apart with their gigantic mass. Since the planet has no atmosphere, the large chunks of rock that break off from the globe begin to float up into outer space. This has become extremely dangerous for nearby solar systems and traveling ships. If a single pregnant Kaynar (who can survive the pressures and temperatures of space) makes its way to another globe, it may plague the entire planet until it ends up much like Taraks.
Unaligned Races BugRace3
Taraks (Tear-icks) is a fading planet, worsening every year due to its inhabitants. It was once the rocky home of thousands of life forms, but because of imbalanced reproduction, the Kaynar (Kay-Nar) soon took over. The creatures live in massive nest colonies, at least 50,000 strong per gathering. They communicate through chemical sharing, geovibrations and even body gestures. Some scientists speculate that the creature is only as intelligent as a primitive ape while others argue that they have the intelligence of an uneducated human. What is certain is that the massive planet Taraks is slowly breaking apart into space, and because the Kaynar live in the soils, they float along inside the pieces.

Hexisan Union Council Members have deliberated many times about destroying the planet outright, but because Tarak’s extremely hot core is so volatile, it could possibly set off a chain reaction with the unstable stars near its orbit. Crews have come in trying to exterminate the Kaynar one-by-one, but because the creatures are resistant to many weapons, psionics, and hide in their planet’s soils, it’s nearly impossible to succeed. Instead, Hexisan Union drones are parked outside of the planet, blasting away any pieces of Taraks large enough to house these bugs with their powerful proton weapons.
Unaligned Races Kaynar
If the Taraks were ever to successfully land within a planet, it could take only a matter of six months for Kanyar to reach the 50,000 mark. The food needed to keep them alive would be substantial, ranging in the hundreds-of-millions in kilograms or near 150,000 humanoid creatures every 24 weeks. This makes the alien, as primitive as it may be, a danger to the entire Hexisan Galaxy and any surrounding galaxies as well. The destruction of the Kaynar has been a priority for the Hexisan Union who have developed new, high-tech sensors to oversee the Bug Planet, while researching new ways to kill the resistance race, such as chemicals that turn the animals against one another.

Racial Name: Athiocs (Aye-thee-Ox)
Unaligned Races Logo3
Alias: Krilions (used for both Balidar and Athiocs)

Nicknames: Gargoyles, The Endangered

Home Galaxy: Hexisan

Home Planet: Krilon

Alternative Planet Names: Trainex (Tray-Nex)

Colonized Planets: None

Major Organizations: None

Physical Description: Athiocs are a bipedal race who follow in the physical footsteps of most intelligent species (having five major sense organs, in which four are located on the head; two eyes, two ears, one mouth, one nose and a large set of nervous tissue throughout their skin). They are descendents of early geo-bacteria which developed into a horned tetrapod. Athiocs body types are thin, but sturdy. They are a bit taller than most other races, with wiry, builds. The average height of an adult Athioc is about 1.9 meters (6 feet 3 inches) tall. The average mass of an adult Athioc is 70 kg (150 lbs) for males and 50 kg (115 lbs) for females.

Athiocs have deposits of calcium which protrude from their skin, creating a natural armor against predators. The surface is almost always gray and/or white, varying on their environment. The Athiocs have heightened vision, granting them enhanced sight in low light conditions. They have arms that are far longer in proportion to other races, usually reaching down to their knees. As Athiocs age, they tend to wrinkle, shed calcium deposits and darken in skin. They have dull sets of spaced out teeth which help them gnaw down rocks in order to eat the nutrients inside. Their digestive systems are made to withdraw nutrients from even the most basic soils, while sorting out the waste.

Athiocs are technically herbivores, eating the nutrients inside plants, flowers and even rocks. They have moderate life spans, living for an average of 70 years. They reach sexual maturity at 13 to 16 years of age. Females continue to develop physically until age 18 while males develop until age 20. Their physical climax starts at age 15 years, but can stretch out until 35 years before slowly fading in strength and stamina. An Athioc is considered elderly (and incapable of certain physical actives) when they reach 60. They can live in most temperate, cold or hot environments provided they have appropriate shelter. Athiocs have a relatively low birth rates, able to give birth to one child every two years. They must carry their offspring within their backs (unlike most who carry it within their stomachs) for twelve months, and are nearly paralyzed for the last week. This, plus their tragic history, has caused the Athioc race to become nearly extinct.
Unaligned Races AthiocsFaces
Culture: Athiocs are very curious by nature. Their culture does not see territories like most races. Athiocs are allowed freely to enter each other’s dens, as many are very peaceful in nature unless provoked. More than any other creatures, Athiocs tend to value freedom and open-mindedness, a trait that often puts them at odds with their planetary affiliates, the Balidar. They believe in lack of restrictions and often become candor and open. They work well with many other races, such as the Altarians, who respect the Athiocs laxity. They tolerate their ancient enemies, the Balidar, an opressive race native to their planet. Athioc society depends on travel, and most families split apart in order to create their own families with other distant Athioc cultures. They believe in open relationships until a family has sprung from it and support the ideals of marriage in order to raise their kin. Once pair of mates marries, they will unite to raise their offspring, but when the children grow to adulthood and leave the domestic unit, Athioc parents often split to find new partners. Athiocs are extremely explorative, and can become very resourceful when trying to solve new ways of resolving a problem. This also makes Athiocs good philosophers, politicians and military scouts.
Unaligned Races Athiocs

History: The Athiocs have always been a naturally explorative group. Their early mating cycles consisted of migrating to far off mountains they’d never been in order to reproduce. Athiocs also lived on the vast mountains of Krilon, free from many predators that lived on the planet. This made them more lax when it came to border and territories. Unfortunately, the other intelligent race that shared their planet, the Balidar, had a tougher upbringing and was not comfortable with others crossing their lines. So, when Athioc groups began to settle in Balidar towns and cities, a cultural split caused for racial tension. Soon the Balidar outlawed the Athiocs and began to commit terrible atrocities against the Athioc people. Concentration camps, torture and executions were committed by the Balidar in order to chase their racial enemies back into their mountains. However, the Athiocs would not allow this aggression to stand, and after much deliberation, went to war with the Balidar. Unfortunately, their technologies were not as up-to-date, nor were their numbers, and soon the Athiocs were fighting a losing war.

Regrettably, the Balidar would not be so forgiving in the Athiocs surrender, continuing to punish the mountain creatures even after they’d given up. Mass exodus, mountain prisons and hostile confrontations continued to wipe out the Athioc race, leaving only the most cautious to carry on the Athioc blood line. Luckily, as time went on, Balidar allowed the Athiocs to keep their mountains as reservations, but broke the band on the Athiocs racial orders so long as the mountain race followed Balidar laws. Athiocs however, mostly continued to live in their mountains, jaded about their history.

Then, nearly a century later, Hexisan Union explorers discovered the planet, and soon the Krilons were a part of this matrimony. While the Balidar continued to keep close ties with the planet of Krilon, many Athiocs saw this as their opportunity to explore new worlds. Many Athiocs left the planet and joined other planet’s social systems. They were finally treated as equals, though they remained rivals with the Balidar. Nowadays, the Athiocs are seen as a gem in Hexisan society. Before the arrival of the Terrans (Humans, Ullitors, Solins, Naga), Krilons were often used to explore the outer rims of new galaxies and investigate far off planets. Though their gentle nature often works against such feelings, many Athiocs still remain jaded with the Balidar, even though their dark history was lifetimes ago.

DOOM SQUID
Unaligned Races Doomsquid

Racial Name: Psius-Teuthida

Alias: Doom Squid

Nicknames: Psi-Eaters

Home Galaxy: Hexisan

Home Planet: None, Nomads

Colonized Planets: None

Major Organizations: None

Physical Description: Doom Squid are massive, sentient creatures with an enclosed mantle, areal fins along each side and a collection of tentacles which stretch across their posterior. The skin is covered in chromatophores, which enable the squid to change color to suit its surroundings, making it practically invisible in certain parts of space. The underside is also almost always lighter than the topside, to provide camouflage from both prey and predator. Under the body are openings to the mantle cavity, which contains the breathing ctenidia and openings to the excretory and reproductive systems. At the front of the mantle cavity lies the siphon, which the squid uses for locomotion via precise carbon jet propulsion. In this form of locomotion, gas is sucked into the mantle cavity and expelled out of the siphon in a fast, strong jet. The direction of the siphon can be changed, to suit the direction of travel. Inside the mantle cavity, beyond the siphon, lies the visceral mass, which is covered by a thin, membranous epidermis. Under this are all the major internal organs.
Unaligned Races Adoomsquid4

Doom Squid have no hair. Their hue ranges from a nearly clear pink to a heavy blue. They are carnivores, living off the flesh of living prey, but prefer sentient creatures. They live for an average of 500 years, reaching sexual maturity at 3 to 5 years of age. Females continue to develop physically until age 2 while males develop until age 5. They reach their physical climax near their 400th year before beginning to slowly fade in strength and stamina. A Doom Squid is considered elderly (and incapable of certain physical actives) when they reach their 500’s. They can live in any non-oxygenized environments provided they have appropriate food. They have a high birth rate and often deliver ten to twelve offspring at a time.
Unaligned Races ADoomSquid3

Doom Squid are also one of the only wild races that are naturally psionic. Most tend to have the ability to sense intelligent life which develops into a later ability to sense other psions as well. A few Doom Squid have been documented to have other abilities such as telekinesis, but this is very rare. This makes Doom Squid extremely efficient hunters, as they are able to overpower and outthink unsuspecting prey. Their size ranges anywhere between 1 meter long for newborns to 300 meters long for adults.

Culture: Doom Squid are not very social beings and tend to live in secluded complex social groups. More than any other creature, they are adept at utilizing chemical/psionic communication for self-gain, exchanging their psychic thoughts to organize those under them. Doom Squid groups are almost often based on den sizes, and the leader tends to be the largest or most aggressive. Social interactions between Doom Squid and other races is almost non-existent as the race only hunts other species. All Doom Squid societies are based off of survival and hunting, as their insatiable hunger can almost never be fulfilled.
Unaligned Races AADoomSquid2

The creatures tend to send out scouts to search for food while the rest of the pack stays within their home territory. These scouts send out psychic signals to their brothers and sisters once they’ve found life so that the entire family can eat at once. Since Doom Squid can only survive off of vacuum-less environments, they tend to wander throughout galaxies looking for other space herding life forms, planets without atmospheres, or transportation ships. While they tend to just sneak up on and outright attack open prey, Doom Squid have different tactics for creatures who take shelter (such as when in space vessels), as it can only eat live prey. The Doom Squid will latch on to the protection with its ultra long tentacles (sometimes hundreds of meters long), then send its outside feelers into the refuge, where it slowly plucks out living creatures and drags them into the creature’s beak to be devoured. It avoids destroying the protective shell, as most life forms can not live outside of their oxygenated shelters, thus making the creature inedible. Seeing as the creature is so deadly, it’s no surprise that Hexisan officials have declared that the creature be killed on site. However, Doom Squid have had a mild understanding of this notion and steered clear of active areas in the galaxy.
